Senior Design Manager

Designer of Orange Mobile Homescreen, creating the interaction solution, documentation and implementation strategy for each major release and incremental update. Homescreen, released on 71 handset models totalling 17 million units in 2007, is a combination of status information, alerts and access points supporting and defining Orange’s mobile communication and service strategy. The delivery of Homescreen involves a complex synthesis of internal and external requirements, primary research, usage data, rapid iterative user-testing, needing continual communication and influence with multiple stakeholders.

 

Responsible for mobile service innovation and articulation of Orange’s future mobile user-experience strategy. This activity includes complete definition, design and specification of bespoke Orange handsets – consisting of both interaction and visual design.

 

Coordinating multiple large cross-platform projects simultaneously, through management of internal teams and external agencies (includes overseeing a design budget of +1 million). Initiating, coordinating and hosting the Orange Design Forum – a regular international event that focuses and promotes design excellence throughout the Orange companies.

Senior interaction designer

Successfully defined the design implementation strategy of mobile services for a 3G start-up. This was within a constantly shifting environment of new-generation handset capabilities, network technologies, customer expectations and business requirements. Key to success was the tight-coupling of design and technology drivers.

 

Responsible for the mobile interaction design program for third-party services, supported by on-line styleguide documentation and implementation best-practice created through close inter-working with developers & engineers.
